During the last 18 months since the onset of Covid, we remained a community of believers who continued to help the vulnerable, spiritually, emotionally and financially. We have been actively following the CDC and state authorities for their guidance to prevent the spread of the virus. Thank you all for your commitment.

September Event:

We are partnering with White Plains Youth Bureau, thanks to Bhavana Pahwa,  Deputy Director of WP Youth Bureau, to once again raise awareness of existence of gender inequality, domestic violence and its cultural acceptance at the Wellness Family Fun Festival

 

Our youth volunteers will be speaking to the young and mature regarding the prevalent but unhealthy attitudes that promote oppression and violence, while learning a new painting technique.

All participants will take home their unique painting

October Events:

                            October is Domestic Violence awareness month

Event 1

AWAKE in partnership with India Center of Westchester, The Arya Samaj and Hindu Tristate Temple, all Westchester based organizations, has organized an educational panel on Zoom under the leadership of Dr. Nomita Verma Pfaff.

 

Topic: Safety - Teens for Teens

Date: October 2nd

Time: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm

Discussions will be led by Center for Safety & Change staff members, Nikki Hines, Director of Community Engagement  & Social change and Phyllis Frank, Chief Program Officer followed by a Q & A session.

Event 2

AWAKE has renewed its partnership with Center for Safety and Change in Rockland county. On October 28th, Governor Mario Cuomo bridge will be lit purple in recognition of the DV awareness month. AWAKE along with its partners, Center for Safety and Change and My Sister's Place in White Plains is working on coordinating a walk across the bridge that evening. Details to follow.
